The Reviews Of Rolex Reference 6238 ‘Pre-Daytona’ Replica Watch

The dial

The legendary status of best Rolex Cosmograph Daytona replica watch fitted with “Paul Newman” exotic dials has sent values of the best examples soaring into the stratosphere. The most paid so far is £673,000 at Christie’s in 2013 for a 1969 example in which the words “Oyster” and “Cosmograph” were transposed from their normal positions.

But while enthusiasm for the model never seems to wane, the values of an arguably far more attractive Rolex chronograph from the 1960s remain relatively low. The watch in question is the delectable reference 6238, also known as the “pre-Daytona” due to it being manufactured between the first Rolex wrist chronographs made during the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s and the Cosmograph/Cosmograph Daytona introduced in 1963.

Examples of the 6238 appear at auction relatively rarely (certainly in relation to the perversely more valuable “PN”), and those in such well preserved condition as the one offered by Sotheby’s really are “once in a blue moon” affairs. The exceptionally good state of the watch could be accounted for by the fact it was consigned by the original owner of more than 50 years; someone who must be commended for the way he looked after it.

The case

The 36mm case appeared to be gently worn but not over-polished, the crown and push-pieces were in excellent order, and even the bracelet – which may well have been the original fitting – still seemed entirely usable. What really marked this watch out, however, was the fabulous condition of its (original) silvered dial, on which everything from the luminous dot hour markers to the printing of the inner tachymeter bezel remained fresh, crisp and clear.

Whoever took the decision to ignore the high estimate of £15,000 and bid to the final selling price of £20,625 was wise indeed. This watch will never lose value but, as more people become aware of just how rare and stylish the 6238 is, it might just creep towards “Paul Newman” territory before you know it.

In summary

An excellent vintage Rolex that can feasibly be worn without losing value. Its “one owner” provenance can never be repeated but if it is maintained in similar condition during the next decade and doesn’t pass through the hands of further buyers it will only increase in value.

Hublot Big Bang Meca-10 P2P Replica Watch Reviews

Remember all your friends and coworkers who tried to get you to buy into bitcoin about a year ago, and when you heard the term “blockchain” at least once an hour? Well, Hublot does, and they’ve released the Hublot Big Bang Meca-10 P2P replica watch for the all savvy and successful bitcoin investors of the world. The Hublot Meca-10 P2P is a limited edition, fully bitcoin-themed Big Bang Meca-10 which you can naturally purchase via bitcoin.Today, let's talk ablout the Hublot Big Bang Meca-10 watch.

Hublot has taken the Big Bang Meca-10 which we saw hands-on and discussed further here, and fully decked it out in bitcoin styling and references. The Meca-10 P2P is limited to 210 pieces, a nod to the overall cap of bitcoin in existence, set at 21 million units. The name, Meca-10 P2P, is in reference to “Peer to Peer,” the type of payment that bitcoin enables.

Stylistically, the watch has a futuristic vibe. Prominently featured on the dial around the 3 o’clock position is a bitcoin logo, and on the sapphire caseback a map of the world is shown with rays of light connecting dots, I guess meant to evoke digital interconnectedness. The blue leather strap has a circuit-board style design, and engraved onto the edge of the bezel is the individual bitcoin transaction number for your watch. Prominently featured is the 10 o’clock marker, the only hour marker with an Arabic numeral, another nod to the 10-year anniversary of bitcoin, which was originally launched in November of 2008.

The case

From a technical perspective, the Meca-10 P2P clocks in at a diameter of 45mm and 15.95mm thick, with a case made of black ceramic. Beating along inside is the HUB1201 in-house movement, clearly visible through the skeletonized dial, featuring 24 jewels, a frequency of 21,600bph, and a 10-hour power reserve. The cyber-space-themed strap is made from blue dyed calf leather and rubber, and has a black PVD coated buckle with a ceramic insert.

The most notable part of this release, in my opinion, is the purchasing method. With its theme, it makes sense that Hublot would make the only payment method for the Meca-10 P2P bitcoin. I would imagine that the target buyer here is the successful bitcoin investor, so that technical hurdle of paying via bitcoin wouldn’t be an issue. Also the fact that you’d have to be pretty into bitcoin to go out and buy a bitcoin-themed Hublot. And if you happened to make a bundle on it… why not? While this watch is kinda gimmicky, I have to admit, I dig it. Like many, I got sucked into the bitcoin/cryptocurrency craze and geeked out over it pretty hard, and reading through all the nods to the bitcoin/crypto world that Hublot incorporated into the Meca-10 P2P, does make me smile.

And surprisingly, the design that Hublot went for works really well with the Big Bang Meca-10 design, in my opinion. I’ve never been the biggest Hublot nut, but something about the shade of blue, the skeletonized dial, the black case… all of it comes together to work in my eyes. Unfortunately, I was not a successful cryptocurrency investor, so the Meca-10 P2P does lie well outside my grasp. But, I do find Hublot’s tactic interesting here, and I’ll be curious to see if the rest of the luxury watch market begins adopting bitcoin and cryptocurrency as means of payment moving forward.

With the release of the Big Bang Meca-10 P2P, Hublot once again shows that they are more daring and experimental than the vast majority of the watch industry that is notoriously, and by definition, slow to adopt new technology. Whether Hublot’s lead will have an impact on the industry, and whether cryptocurrency will change money as we know it, is yet to be seen.

Reviews Of Panerai Luminor Submersible 42mm PAM00683 & PAM00959 Replica Watch

Released in 2016, the introduction of the smaller Panerai Submersible 682 was a welcome one for dive watch fans who loved the striking, minimalist aesthetic of Panerai’s burly flagship titanium diver PAM1389 but couldn’t quite handle its 47mm proportions. But for two years, that black dial with the solid stainless steel bezel remained the lone option available in steel in the smaller size – until now. New for SIHH 2019, Panerai has introduced two new long-awaited 42mm Submersible references with ceramic rotating bezels. One of them looks a bit like a 1389 that’s been hit with a shrink ray and a few strokes of a blue paint brush, but the other is a handsome new-for-2019 “shark grey” colorway with a navy blue ceramic bezel that mimics the livery of the recently announced PAM 982 Submersible chronograph designed in collaboration with Panerai ambassador and freedive world champion Guillaume Nery.Panerai Luminor Submersible 42mm PAM00683 & PAM00959 replica watch

Analysis

Personally, I always liked the 682 but as a general rule, tend to avoid stainless steel bezels, preferring instead something a little sportier, with a touch more visual contrast. Panerai’s ceramic bezel design is particularly interesting, as the slightly raised steel five-minute markers provide a uniquely textured element to what’s usually an entirely flat ceramic surface. So for those who’ve been waiting for a properly classic but more wearable 1389, the 683 is certainly to please. Similarly, the 959 should be a hit for those who loved the mottled “shark grey” dial and the new ceramic bezel of the recently announced 982 flyback chronograph, but also couldn’t stomach its 47mm case or eye-watering $20,000 price tag. Neither of these watches are formally considered “limited editions” either, and should be readily available once they make their way into boutiques.

Inside both watches beats the same movement as the current 682, but with what appears to be a new naming convention – this particular calibre is being referred to as “XXXIV.” Once in the booth at SIHH, we’ll be sure to chat with the team at Panerai to learn more about this use of Roman numerals. Otherwise, the chronometric performance and specifications appear to be entirely identical – and in a stylistic trend used by other Panerai watches, the running seconds hand at 9:00 is finished with light blue paint to delineate an in-house produced calibre. Matching its black dial, the 683 reference comes with a black date disc, while the new 959 reference comes with a nicely color-matched grey date disc to complement the shark grey dial. Both watches are fitted with Panerai’s excellent 22mm accordion rubber dive strap to match their respective bezels – the 683 in black, and the 959 in blue.

Summary

Though die-hard Paneristi might continue to decry the brand for forsaking its original larger-than-life source material, the response is markedly simple: if the smaller references weren’t in demand (or weren’t selling), Panerai probably wouldn’t make them. And based on my own short-lived attempt to locate a 682 from an AD upon initial release in 2016, its lengthy waiting list suggested that there are indeed plenty of folks who’ve long been waiting for a little more diversity in Panerai’s Submersible collection. I’d wager those same folks are likely going to be just as pleased with the continuation of that re-balancing act with what Panerai has on tap for 2019.

Rolex Daytona Watch Given To Winner Of Rolex 24 Hours Of Daytona Race

The 55th edition of the Rolex 24 (aka 24 hours of Daytona) race took place, sponsored by, of course, Rolex. Part of what that means is that the winner get’s a special Rolex watch, so we were naturally interested to have a look at the watch itself.

After 659 laps over the course of 24 hours around the Daytona speedway in Florida, Ricky Taylor, driving the No. 10 Konica Minolta Cadillac DPi-V.R was the winner. Along with the bragging rights, the prestige of winning the race, and (obviously) the trophy, Taylor and his team (which includes Jeff Gordon) are also receiving a Rolex Cosmograph Daytona watch in two-tone steel and yellow gold with a white dial. This is clearly not just any Rolex Daytona, but is engraved on the back exclaiming it’s meant for the wrist of the driver who wins the grueling 24-hour race.

When discussing the win, Taylor specifically referenced the watch’s significance, saying, “After an intense race in tough conditions, it is such a relief to stand in Victory Lane as winners of ‘The Rolex.’ We take part in this race with the dream of winning the 24-hour marathon but also of one day putting a Rolex Daytona on our wrists. It really is the ultimate reward in motorsport and a reminder of our success. I’m very proud to be added to the accomplished list of Rolex 24 At Daytona winners.”

It looks like Taylor got the Rolex Daytona ref. 116503 replica watch  which is the two-tone steel and 18k yellow gold model. Rolex slightly updated the Daytona line last year by introducing a cerachrome ceramic bezel model, but I don’t think anyone is going to complain about getting the gold bezel here. Specific Daytona models given to the winning team vary year to year. What they share in common, however, is the satisfyingly pithy engraved case back with the race’s logo, the year, and the word “Winner.”

The 24 Hours of Daytona is a physically and likely emotionally taxing race, and the glory of victory is guaranteed to go from an ephemeral feeling to a wrist-trophy. If you have the money but still need some marathon driving practice, you can buy a Rolex Daytona ref. 116503 from our cheap replica watch store-Prowatches.co.
