This year, Audemars is presenting a version of its famous Royal Oak in 41mm Frosted Gold (hammered gold) which is associated with an anthracite-colored skeleton caliber which highlights the regulating organ and the balance bridge.(Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Squelette Frosted Gold Double Balance Wheel replica watch)
Audemars Piguet has just unveiled its brand new Royal Oak for men. This is a 41 mm white gold model (water resistant to 50 meters) which uses the famous "Frosted Gold" introduced two years ago by the Manufacture in Le Brassus in the women's collections.
This watch has a white gold bracelet and case, a crystal and a sapphire crystal case-back with anti-reflective treatment. In this version, like its female counterpart, it is adorned with a scintillating texture, obtained thanks to a traditional Florentine technique, developed to sublimate precious metals, especially small jewelry.
In practice, the process consists of hammering the gold using a tool with a diamond tip, which makes it possible to create small marks on the surface of the metal and obtain a sparkle similar to that gemstones or diamond dust.
For the Audemars Piguet artisans, the challenge was to adapt this finishing technique to the entire case and bracelet of the Royal Oak, without altering the classic characteristics of its design. It was also necessary to rethink the execution order of the other finishes (polishing and satin) due to the arrangement of the links of the bracelet of the Royal Oak in descending order (bracelet in "fall").
This Frosted Gold is a real hit within the AP collections. A success which is here associated with another success of the Manufacture in Le Brassus. Indeed, this watch has a smoked anthracite openwork dial with applied indexes and Royal Oak hands in pink gold with luminescent coating.
Thanks to the skeletonization of the latter, we can guess the AP caliber 3132, which here highlights the regulating organ and the balance bridge. By integrating two balances and two hairsprings assembled on the same axis, the system oscillates in perfect harmony.
This patented mechanism is the result of a complex manufacturing process aimed at improving the precision and stability of the whole, while allowing the beating heart of the watch to be observed from both sides of the case.
This "in-house" automatic movement of 245 components provides a standard power reserve of 45 hours and beats at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations / hour.
